ARTIST STATEMENT
My newest series explores my deep SE Texas and Cantonese roots. I am exploring sculptural forms that are influenced by growing up along Dickinson Bayou, my love of historical Southern ceramics, and listening to stories of my hardworking, extended Asian family. My great grandfather was a coolie on two railroads and grandparents had the first Asian grocery/import store in Dallas. Now as ceramist, wife, mother, and business owner I am voicing my narrative of what it means to me to be TexAsian in the 21st century.

I work in ceramics from expressive utilitarian forms to sculptural wall installations and public works. I am inspired by my ideas first and then create forms and surfaces based off those concepts and personal experiences.
